Galerie GLASKASTEN

Opened in 2019, Galerie Galerie GLASKASTEN offers another exhibition space for contemporary art, with a large shop window out onto the district. The gallery is located in the studio and project house Jakobstr. 42. Thanks to the proximity to the Werkstudio and many other studios, works created directly in the neighbourhood are exhibited alongside international artistic perspectives.

In the five-part exhibition series “Earthworks” (as part of New Ecologies, Gegenwarten II), we take a look at ecology and earth systems through the thicket of civilisation problems on the Sonnenberg – like current building sites.

Earthworks VI
For the earthworks, Reinhard Krehl explores the migration history of various plants discovered on the Sonnenberg and their social attributions. Krehl's works combine nature and culture and question traditional botanical classifications.
