Galerie GLASKASTEN

Opened in 2019, Galerie Galerie GLASKASTEN offers another exhibition space for contemporary art, with a large shop window out onto the district. The gallery is located in the studio and project house Jakobstr. 42. Thanks to the proximity to the Werkstudio and many other studios, works created directly in the neighbourhood are exhibited alongside international artistic perspectives.

    From 23 May to 13 July 2025, the GLASKASTEN gallery of Klub Solitaer e. V. in Chemnitz is showing the exhibition “Lost in Trace” with current works by artist Mandy Knospe. The Chemnitz-based graduate designer is, among other things, the initiator of the association Klub Solitaer e. V. In addition to her award-winning work in the field of design, Knospe’s free artistic work is characterised by transmedia and spans graphics and drawing, photography and sculpture and is always conceptual in nature.

    The exhibition "Lost in Trace" deals with processes of reproduction and remembrance. It revolves around traces left behind and the transformation of meaning. One of the starting points is the iconic figure of Mickey Mouse - a symbol that simultaneously stands for childhood projections, but also for social and political contexts. Together, the works on display explore how memories are changed, superimposed or made legible anew through transformations - and how longings and experiences of loss are inscribed in them.
