Arrivals Hall
A bus stop has recently been installed right outside the Klub Solitaer e.V. project centre. Since then, people have been waiting outside the gallery windows, seeking shelter in the entrance when it rains or sitting on the windowsill. Very few come inside. Most just want to move on.
From 19 October to 1 November, the Glaskasten gallery will therefore be transformed into an arrivals hall kiosk.
For two weeks, it will be open daily from early morning until evening: as an exhibition space and meeting place, a workshop and living room, a stage and a place to linger. Have you found yourself on Zietenstraße? Come on in. Warm up, have a cup of tea, have a look around, stay a while. Discover installations and performances, take part in workshops, listen and discuss, eat and drink together, enjoy concerts – or simply join us.
Because we want to explore: what does a space need to encourage people to enter it? What conveys a sense of safety and belonging? And what turns a place where you just pop in briefly into a place where you want to stay?
To this end, the space itself is being reimagined and redesignedby Katharina Betz, Anna Brodmann and Annabel Schipper.
Over the course of two weeks, a wide variety of artistic, craft-based, culinary and discursive formats will come together here:

We’ll be building, gluing and sawing our own incense men*, animals and figures from found objects or whatever’s lying about. We can keep the little figures*, give them to our loved ones, show them off proudly, explain to everyone how we made them, or simply think some lovely thoughts. Whilst we’re making and doing, we’ll chat about this and that: What’s worrying us? Have you started smoking again? When is a man a man?

Their two-part workshop centres on fermentation: together, participants will make ginger beer and kimchi, accompanied by tastings, discussions and insights into microbial processes.
Mid-Fest
24 October 2026
from 6 pm
We’re celebrating Bergfest! easyeasy with ginger beer and snacks, a concert by Saeko Killy and a DJ set.
The Japanese musician Saeko Killy lives in Berlin and moves in an indefinable way between new wave, J-pop, NDW, industrial and electronic club music. At times driving and edgy, at times warm, and almost always dreamlike. Multilingualism, fragmented memories and the feeling of moving between places and states characterise her music.

Workshop: WAITING ROOM with Raisan Hameed and Pooya Sedighi Mournani
30 October 2026
2.00 pm – 6.00 pm
What does it mean to arrive somewhere? When do we feel we have arrived – and can we ever truly arrive in a place?
In this workshop, the artists Raisan Hameed and Pooya Sedighi Mournani invite participants to explore the theme of ‘arriving’ through language, memory, perception and the city of Chemnitz.
Together, we will discuss how language shapes our perception of a place, look at artistic works and examples, and share different perspectives on the concept of ‘arrival’.
The focus will be on the question: How can we recognise when we have ‘arrived’? Does ‘arrival’ always have to be linked to a place, an encounter or a specific situation – or can it also be an inner, mental state? Participants will choose an image, an object, a word, a sound or another form that, for them, relates to ‘arrival’, and ask: Why does this particular thing, image or sound tell a story of ‘arrival’?
Back in the Waiting Room, these different fragments are brought together to form a shared, personal map of the city of Chemnitz.
No prior artistic experience is required.

Workshop / Performance with ‘Ostdeutschland stays soft’
1 November 26
3.00 pm–5.00 pm
Ostdeutschland stays soft is a blanket.
It is large, soft and warm.
It engages with the concept of East Germany.
Make yourself comfortable, dream:
Which person from East Germany,
which landscape, which object or animal from East Germany would you like to lie here with?
Tell us about it, embroider it onto the blanket. Let’s have a good time together.
We’re travelling across the country with the blanket.
‘Ostdeutschland stays soft’ is a group of artists who engage with the concept of East Germany through performance, media and participatory art. We want to create a safe space for diverse East German stories, including the painful and violent ones.
It all kicks off on Monday, 19 October 2026, at 6.00 pm with the opening and a presentation of the programme.
Come along. Come along. Pop in. Stay a while.
