Together, we are launching the ‘Ritual and Rebellion’ series, a space for young contemporary, experimental and socially critical Jewish artists who explore the complexity, contradictions and current processes of transformation within Jewish life, Jewish memory and identity.

In our first edition, artistic perspectives come together that look back in different ways on their own childhoods and religiously shaped pasts: Michal Arnheim, Adam Elezrah and Daniella Ljungsberg ( live).

Michal Arnheim (*1996) from Jerusalem. Between an Orthodox childhood and artistic emancipation, she reoccupies religious spaces through photography and translates memory into abstract realities.

Adam Elezrah (*1994), based in Leipzig, works at the intersection of installation, performance and sculpture, deconstructing ritual talismans from his childhood. 

The opening will be accompanied by a concert by Daniella Ljungsberg. Daniella studied New Music at the Musrara School of Arts in Jerusalem. She weaves Nordic folklore with granular synthesis, loops and field recordings into dreamlike, mystical lo-fi ambient – she too takes us on a sonic odyssey back to her Swedish roots and childhood memories. Somewhere between dream-pop and experimental nostalgia, Ljungsberg creates an atmosphere that feels like a collective memory – an invitation into an almost ghostly, yet deeply familiar world.
