LOKOMOV
The LOKOMOV is a meeting point for cultural and artistic exchange at the foot of Chemnitz’s Sonnenberg. It is located at Augustusburger Str. 102, which was saved from demolition in 2012 as a domicile for artists*, musicians*, associations and socially committed people. Regular events in the fields of art, music, theatre, literature and film take place here.

October 2026 | LOKOMOV | ExhibitionSebastian Jung | Ostschule 5: Chemnitzchen and Ost JungThe exhibition brings together insights from a process spanning several years, which is entering its fifth phase this year in Chemnitz. Artworks by Sebastian Jung are presented at the LOKOMOV cultural centre alongside statements from people with links to Chemnitz’s civil society, who have shared their views on their connection to the city, their experiences during the period of reunification, their identity as East Germans and the Capital of Culture year in a series of workshops. Taking as their starting point the characters ‘Ost Jung’ – an elusive East German archetype who defies all clichés – and ‘Chemnitzchen’, the alternative mascot of the Capital of Culture, people are invited to discuss their feelings, tensions and aspirations.
Opening hours
LOKOMOV is open from 6 PM and 11 PM Friday and Saturday, and 3 PM to 10 PM on Sunday.
