Galerie HINTEN

Galerie HINTEN emerged from the art and culture festival “Begehungen”. Since 2011, it has been supporting young artists from all over Europe, providing them with an independent, non-commercial project space for the exhibition of contemporary art in Chemnitz. Painting, drawing, photography, installation, sculpture – diverse forms of visual art from different genres are presented here to old-established Sonnenberg residents, tourists and newcomers alike.

    The exhibition “Practices of Moving” brings together works by Charles Cohen, Beatriz Eugenia Diaz, Mauricio Limón de León, Angelika Kammann and Alexandra Meffert, Christian Seybold. The starting point is the movement between urban centres and smaller towns – between financial and cultural hubs and those places that are often overlooked.

    The opening is on 05.12.2025 at 18:00 in the Galerie Hinten.

    The exhibition "Practices of Moving" brings together works by Charles Cohen, Beatriz Eugenia Diaz, Mauricio Limón de León, Angelika Kammann and Alexandra Meffert, Christian Seybold. The starting point is the movement between urban centres and smaller towns - between financial and cultural hubs and those places that are often overlooked.

    Instead of viewing "moving" as an individual strategy of optimisation, the exhibition asks how such changes can be understood as practices of relationship, reciprocity and shared life. In video, photography, installation and performative approaches, moments of proximity and exchange are created - between the city and the small town, between people and places, between the desire to belong and the experience of foreignness.
