Promoting culture is a shark tank. The 2025 Capital of Culture wave is quickly fading. With global crises, the air in socio-culture is becoming increasingly thin. Yet community spaces, art and culture are a safe haven for community, discourse and cohesion. That’s why we can’t just drift along and don’t want to have to cling to every straw.

We want to swim against the tide where it feels right and form beautiful shoals with many free fish. We believe in grassroots culture – uncomplicated, open and colourful. As a non-profit association, we put every donation directly into our programme and the maintenance of our premises in Chemnitz’s Sonnenberg district.

That’s why we are always looking for people interested in art and culture who would like to contribute their ideas and energy to our projects. With over 10 years of experience in the cultural sector, Klub Solitaer e. V. has become an integral part of Chemnitz’s cultural scene and beyond. Thanks to institutional funding from the city of Chemnitz, we are able to cover the costs of association administration, studio and project houses, and exhibition and event spaces. In addition, we regularly apply for funding at the state, federal and EU levels.

Co-financing of projects requires own contributions. In addition, the application and planning periods are not conducive to spontaneous projects and collaborations. Maintenance and repairs are rarely eligible for funding.
In order to maintain and, above all, further develop our programme and our work, we are grateful for additional support. Even small amounts help.
